Motor carriers can apply for temporary operating authority registration while providing direct assistance to support emergency COVID-19 relief efforts. The FMCSA has issued a notice that it has waived the fee for temporary operating authority, but you still must apply for the authority. As a private carrier operating for-hire authority, a minimum of $750,000 in liability coverage is required and your insurer must file evidence of coverage with the FMCSA. This assumes you are requesting Emergency Temporary Authority (ETA) with an existing USDOT number.
The FMCSA Registration Office will verify both BOC-3 and insurance on file before notifying the carrier their ETA application has been granted.
The authority is valid for 120 days or until the emergency declaration expires, which ever comes first.
Call us today to start your temporary authority registration.
Our DOT Authority Monitoring Service monitors your DOT authority 365 days a year to notify you of filing deadlines and ensure that your applications are filed accurately so you can stay in compliance. This includes year-round monitoring of your operating status, MCS-150 for date and vehicle miles traveled, insurance coverage, and UCR.
